Brazil is the country with the largest number of public higher education institutions in South America, with 144 institutions. In absolute numbers, of the 281 institutions that use Google solutions in South America, 103 (37%) are in the country. Only 21% of the public institutions use alternative email storage solutions - which is in line with the continent's average. On the other hand, 72% of Brazilian public universities use Google's solutions (the second highest percentage in South America) and only 8% use Microsoft's solutions.

The research in Brazilian Basic Education mapped the secretaries of education (27 states, capital cities and municipalities with more than 500 thousand inhabitants), in total 76 servers analyzed. In this scenario, the number of GAFAM and own servers is balanced at 50% each. As well as in higher education, Google servers are the majority among those who have joined GAFAM, 32.9% (25 domains), while Microsoft is 17.11% (13 domains).
